1. Introduction

Meherban India Social Welfare Foundation ("Meherban India", "we", "us", "our") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect through meherbanindia.org (the "Platform"), why we collect it, and the choices you have. By using the Platform, you consent to the practices described here.

2. Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of information:

• Contact & identity details: name, mobile number, email address, and PAN (only if you request an 80G tax receipt).
• Donation details: the campaign, product, amount, quantity, and delivery date you select, and your donation history.
• Personalization content: any custom message, banner name, uploaded photo, or wishing-video message you submit.
• Payment information: payment method and transaction status. Your card, UPI, or net-banking credentials are collected and processed directly by our payment gateway (Razorpay) and are not stored on our servers.
• Technical & usage data: IP address, browser type, device information, pages visited, and referral source, collected automatically via cookies and analytics tools.
• Communications: messages you send us via email, WhatsApp, contact forms, or customer support.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

• Process your donation and deliver the corresponding kit, gift, or program benefit;
• Issue 80G tax receipts and maintain statutory donation records;
• Personalize your gift (printed message, banner, video wishes) as requested;
• Send transactional updates (payment confirmation, delivery/distribution proof, receipts) and, where you opt in, newsletters or impact updates;
• Respond to your queries and provide customer support;
• Improve the Platform's performance, security, and user experience through aggregated analytics; and
• Comply with applicable legal, tax, and regulatory obligations.

4. How We Share Information

We do not sell or rent your personal information. We share information only with:

• Payment processors (currently Razorpay), to securely process your donation;
• Logistics and distribution partners, to the extent needed to deliver a physical kit or program benefit;
• Communication providers (email/SMS/WhatsApp), to send you receipts and updates;
• Regulatory or tax authorities, where required for 80G compliance or by law; and
• Service providers who host our infrastructure or provide analytics, bound by confidentiality obligations.

5. Cookies & Analytics

We use cookies and similar technologies, together with analytics tools (such as Google Analytics and Vercel Analytics), to understand how visitors use the Platform and to improve it. You can disable cookies through your browser settings; some features of the Platform may not function correctly if you do so.

6. Data Security

We use industry-standard technical and organisational measures — including encrypted connections (HTTPS), restricted database access, and PCI-DSS compliant payment processing — to protect your information. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Data Retention

We retain donation and receipt records for as long as required under applicable tax and charity regulations, and other personal information for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes described in this Policy, after which it is deleted or anonymised.

8. Children's Information

The Platform is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children through donor-facing forms. Photographs or videos of child beneficiaries shared with donors as proof of impact are captured by Meherban India with appropriate consent from the beneficiary's guardian, and are provided to donors solely for personal, non-commercial viewing.

9. Your Rights & Choices

You may, at any time, request to:

• Access the personal information we hold about you;
• Correct inaccurate or incomplete information;
• Delete your personal information, subject to our statutory record-keeping obligations (e.g. donation and tax receipt records); or
• Opt out of marketing emails or newsletters, using the unsubscribe link in any such email, or by contacting us directly.

10. Third-Party Links

The Platform may link to third-party websites (e.g. social media). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites; please review their own privacy policies before providing them any information.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date above reflects the latest revision. Material changes will be reflected on this page.
